Financial Assistance

If you are having difficulty paying your bill, contact our office Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 419-636-1117 or 800-331-7396 and a customer service representative will be available to discuss your payment options and direct you to specific agencies that may be able to assist with you with your payment. If a disconnect notice has been received it is extremely important to immediately call the Ohio Gas Company office and make payment arrangements to avoid being disconnected.


Residential Payment Plans

Ohio Gas Company offers various payment plans designed to help a customer budget their payment, maintain gas service or reconnect gas service. If a customer is having difficulty paying their bill contact Ohio Gas Company and a customer service representative will assist in ensuring enrollment in the plan that best fits the customer’s ability to make payments.

Budget Plan - Monthly bill is a twelve-month budget bill. The plan estimates usage for the twelve-month period based on historical usage and may be adjusted periodically. This plan must be setup in the fall and is designed to spread high winter bills over the year making the payments more consistent and easier to budget.


"One Ninth" Plan - Monthly bill is a nine-month budget bill, which includes one-ninth of the past-due account balance at the time the plan is initiated. The plan estimates usage for the nine-month period based on historical usage, and may be adjusted periodically.


"One Sixth" Plan - Monthly bill is the current bill plus one-sixth of the past-due amount at the time the plan is initiated.


"One Third" Plan - Monthly bill is one-third of the total account balance. This plan is available during the winter heating season only, from November 1 thru April 15.


PIPP (Percent of Income Payment Plan) - Monthly bill is 5% of total household gross monthly income. To qualify for PIPP your total annual household income must to be at or below 175% of the 2023-2024 federal poverty guidelines:


- Number in household 1 - $26,355.00
- Number in household 2 - $35,770.00
- Number in household 3 - $45,185.00
- Number in household 4 - $54,600.00
- Number in household 5 - $64,015.00
- Number in household 6 - $73,430.00
- Number in household 7 - $82,845.00
- Number in household 8 - $92,260.00
- For households greater than 8, add $10,760.00 each additional member



HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program)

If a customer is having trouble paying their heating bill during the winter months, they may qualify to receive financial assistance through the federal Home Energy Assistance Program. HEAP provides a one-time payment for customers for the winter heating season. It is important to apply for HEAP assistance early!

To qualify for HEAP your total annual household income must be at or below 175% of the 2024-2025 federal poverty guidelines:

- Number in household 1 - $26,355.00
- Number in household 2 - $35,770.00
- Number in household 3 - $45,185.00
- Number in household 4 - $54,600.00
- Number in household 5 - $64,015.00
- Number in household 6 - $73,430.00
- Number in household 7 - $82,845.00
- Number in household 8 - $92,260.00
- For households greater than 8, add $10,760.00 each additional member



Medical Certification

A medical certification is available only to residential consumers. Under this program, a licensed physician or local board of health physician must certify that termination of gas service to the permanent residence of the consumer would pose a special danger to the consumer’s health. Upon the completion of the medical certification form, gas service cannot be disconnected for thirty days. A medical certification is renewable twice within a 12-month period for thirty days each. Agencies for Payment Help

Ohio offers the “211” First Call for Help for assistance. Dial 211 on any phone or visit http://www.211.org/. Customers may also call the Ohio Gas Company office for assistance. A customer service representative can assist by supplying numbers of various agencies, churches, and organizations that may be able to assist with payment of past due gas bills.
